Edgemere, an SQLC retirement community, recently celebrated its new performing arts center by hosting a concert featuring The Whiffenpoofs, a renowned collegiate a cappella group comprised of 14 senior Yale men. The group performed its unique blend of jazz standards – including works by Whiffenpoof alumnus Cole Porter – for residents and invited guests to enjoy.

Founded in 1909, the “Whiffs” began as a senior quartet that met for weekly concerts at Mory’s Temple Bar, the famous Yale tavern. Today, the Whiffenpoofs are one of Yale’s most celebrated traditions, having performed around the world from France to New Zealand to Iceland.
The Yale Whiffenpoof’s performance is an extension of the community’s Masterpiece Living® philosophy, which promotes successful aging by providing residents and invited guests opportunities to enhance their spiritual, mental, social and physical wellness, including exposure to noteworthy performers, artists and speakers.
